Is Hanewich Manatee County's top baseball prospect

Is Brett Hanewich now the best high school baseball player in Manatee County?

After finishing his sophomore year at Lakewood Ranch, Hanewich has a attracted a horde of college and pro scouts this summer playing for a highly touted travel ball team out of Memphis.

Many see Hanewich as a big time pitching prospect because of his size and ability to throw the ball 90 plus miles per hour though he won't turn 17 until December.

Since school ended on June 9th, Hanewich has been on a whirlwind tour with an itinerary that would challenge even a presidential candidate.

During one stretch Hanewich was in Memphis for a four day tournament, drove to Nashville for a Showcase, flew to Fort Myers for another Showcase, then played in a tournament in Mississippi and then followed that up with another in Arkansas. Click here for full story.

Hanewich said he plans to transfer to IMG Academies Pendleton School for the next school year.
