Neimann retires three straight in only inning on mound

Tampa Rays pitcher Jeff Niemann made his spring debut Monday against the Pirates in Port Charlotte and looked impressive though he threw only one inning and faced three batters. The the big right-hander got them all out.

Niemann threw 12 pitches, eight of them for strikes. He got Gorkys Hernandez on a ground out to second, Ronny Cedeno on a first pitch fly to right and struck out Neil Walker looking on a 3-2 pitch.

Kyle Farnsworth came into pitch the second and also retired the Pirates side in order getting Matt Diaz on an infield pop up, striking out Josh Fields and getting Garrett Atkins on a fly to right.
